It’s one of the most historic and cherished dates on the electronic music calendar, which is why we’re especially privileged to be opening up for Movement Detroit Festival this year. That’s right, Electric Deluxe Presents will be setting up at The Works on Friday May 23 to officially kick things off the only way we know how.

Firstly, an honourable mention goes to Jeff Derringer, Chicago’s Oktave chief and Smartbar resident, he’s been paramount in laying down EDP roots in US soil – our own Electric Deluxe ambassador, if you will. Back in April we were delighted to host him for his Berghain debut and we can’t wait to join the jock in the booth once more.

Same goes for one Zak Khutoretsky – better known as DVS1 – who’ll need the most token of introductions. A firm favourite on both sides of the Atlantic, it’s always a pleasure to have this versed and well stocked collector on board. Finally Mike Gervais completes the bill’s US troop of talents, another Midwest fixture with 15 years experience stacked in his favour.

The rest of the line up brings to Movement a distinct Berlin flavour courtesy of three flag fliers from the city’s teeming techno vaults. First up: Lucy, who fomented his populist credentials earlier in the year with ‘Churches Schools & Guns’, the Stroboscopic head’s second full length release. Then there’s Mike Dehnert, Fachwerk founder and all-round Berlin bastion. This year he’ll release his tenth studio album; hard working doesn’t even cut it.

Last but not least Speedy J and Subjected will be representing the EDLX roster. We know you’ll be familiar with the boss’ works, Detroit, but please give Subjected a warm welcome. This may be his Motor City debut, but we know his Berlin-fashioned industrial sound will go down just fine.
